Answers to your Burning Questions

One of my favorite things about being a writer is hearing from my readers (I still struggle to call them "fans." Gulp.) I've always loved telling stories. In fact, I wrote my first story in fifth grade and had one of my friends do the illustration. It was a mystery story in the fashion of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Then I let my classmates "rent" the story. I think maybe I charged a quarter each time, sharing the profits with my illustrator. If it wasn't already obvious, I was a weird child. Anywho, I still love the idea of writing whatever story pops into my head and then sharing that with people who get excited about the story. Today, I thought I'd do something a little different in my blog and answer some of the most common questions I receive from my readers. Here goes! (And please keep the questions coming in the comments below.)

How many books have you written?

There are six full books in the Dark Souls series (with seven coming soon) plus two short stories. I have three books currently in the Blackwood Vampires series and a trilogy called Shadow Hunters, plus a short story. Then there's also the Dark Hart spinoff book. So, that's a grand total of 13 full length books and three short stories/novellas.

How frequently do you release books?

I wish I had a good answer for this. I guess the answer is, as frequently as I can. I'd like to release a book a month in an ideal world, but I'm also not a full-time writer (yet!). Life and the day job tend to get in the way of my plans. I've been writing these books just over two years now, though I initially wrote the Shadow Hunters trilogy a couple years before that. So I'm probably averaging five books a year.  I'd like to see that number double in 2018, as long as people keep wanting to read my stories.

How do you write so fast/Write so many stories?

Honestly, I don't know. I have a million stories in my head at any given time and they just keep coming.I wish I could write faster to get them all on paper (metaphorically speaking.) But the internet is so darn interesting and then Netflix happens...

When is the next book going to be available?

As soon as possible. I promise. I'm still wrapping up the ending of Destined Souls and I'm not going to lie, this has been a hard story to write. There are so many things I want to have happen, but I also need to make this a tidy ending because it's going to be the end of this particular storyline. It's a lot of pressure and I don't want to let the readers down. Destined Souls should be available in the next two weeks assuming nothing crazy comes out during editing.

How long is the Dark Souls series going to be?

Kaylie and Rafe's story will wrap up for the most part in book seven. They will have a crossover into subsequent books and into the Blackwood Vampires series, but going forward Dark Souls will focus on other characters. Readers could stop after book seven and have a complete story, but I really hope people will continue on with the rest of the Dark Souls books.

Alright, that's all the Q&A for now. If you have a burning question you want answers, please let me know. It's been a blast sharing with you. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and please know how very thankful I am for all of you!

There will be at least another book for Grace and William, possibly more. I'm actually working on Rising from Darkness right now. There will also be more stories following the other characters from the Darkness, so the series won't be ending anytime soon!
