I live in Chicago, and it's cold here. I'm not a fan of the cold. The one good thing about delayed spring weather is that it keeps me inside working on my many story ideas. At the end of last year, I wrapped up the Dark Souls series. This was the longest series I've ever written, with seven novels total plus a couple of short stories and a spinoff novel, Dark Hart. As good as it felt to give my characters closure, it was sad to write those final words.
While I do have plans for Kaylie and Rafe to show up in stories from the same Dark Souls universe, I also need to spend some time with my characters from other story lines. The Blackwood Vampires series is only three books so far and I've got a lot more planned for that universe. Don't worry, I AM working on the fourth book. It's just taking longer than I had planned because I'm also working on a couple other series at the same time. That's how my brain works. I can't focus on just one thing at a time. What are those other project you may ask?
That's the biggest problem I have with writing. I have so many ideas and then I love each one of them so much as I'm working on it that I just want to share it as soon as possible. I also think that's why most of my books are on the shorter side of the novel spectrum. I skip a lot of fluff to get the important stuff written down. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, it's just my style.
Also, about once a year I find myself rewatching the entire Buffy series. So that's another thing I'm going to do today. Does anyone else do this with their favorite tv shows? I have a hard time finding anything new that sucks me in so I end up revisiting the classic a lot.
Let me know if the comments if you have a good series I should be watching. Or reading, for that matter. I"m always looking for new books to love.
