Rainbows and Flowers and Golf, Oh my!

I can't believe that May is almost over. What is happening??? I have managed to squeeze in some fun over the last month- starting with my birthday. I'm not a huge birthday celebrator,  but the weather was decent in Chicago and I did find this adorable coffee shop in an alley. They had a great house chai and delicious looking pastries.

I also got a little work done, including publishing book four of The Blackwood Vampires series as well as a companion short story. I'm busy working on book four of Shaded Falls right now.

A week after my birthday, I attempted to play some golf in a charity tournament. We got three holes in before a huge storm rolled through. In addition to rain, there was some crazy wind and it was a mad dash back to the clubhouse through flash floods and hazards blocking the cart path. We still had a ton of fun and it was great to remember a dear friend.

Spring has been rough this year in Chicago. Unlike most places, our spring showers happen in May/June so we've been dealing with a lot of rain on top of the cold. I didn't turn off my heat until a week ago! There have been some signs of better days, including some beautiful flowers/plants, neighborhood beautification projects, and Cubs baseball! Disclaimer- I'm not a Cubs fan (I bleed Dodger blue) but I love living just a few blocks from Wrigley and hearing the game through my open balcony door.

Sometimes, I miss the slower pace and simpler lifestyle of a small town. Chicago can be crowded and hectic, not to mention expensive. But, boy oh boy do I love this city.
